Never Alone

Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth's
rite of Passage?

His father takes him into the forest, blindfolds him and
leaves him alone.

He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not
remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun
shine through it.

He cannot cry out for help to anyone.

Once he survives the night, he is a MAN.

He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because
each lad must come into manhood on his own.

The boy is naturally terrified.
He can hear all kinds of noises.
Wild beasts must surely be all around him .
Maybe even some human might do him harm.
The wind blew the grass and earth, and shook his stump, but
he sat stoically, never removing the blindfold. It would be
the only way he could become a man!

Finally, after a horrific night the sun appeared and he
removed his blindfold

It was then that he discovered his father sitting on the
stump next to him.

He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son
from harm.

We, too, are never alone.
Even when we don't know it,
God is watching over us,
Sitting on the stump beside us.
When trouble comes,
All we have to do is reach out to Him.

Moral of the story:
Just because you can't see God,
Doesn't mean He is not there.
' For we walk by faith, not by sight.'

The Dentist

I hate to admit it, but I am afraid of the Dentist. I could share some horror stories from when I was little about how mean and painful it was for me. But now that I have "grown up", I have learned to just put my big girl panties on and deal with it. I recently had to have a crown done. Now, I know it's just the Dentist, and we can endure anything for an hour or two, but I don't like pain. So I have come up with some ways to help get me through the rough patches.

First, I pray, all the way over there, up until I walk in the door.
Second, while he gives me my shot, I sing to myself "Jesus loves me". I know it's a kids song but it works for me.
Third, I think of any pleasant thought that will or can pop into my head while I am being worked on.

I have to say that my latest experience was a pleasure. As pleasurable as the Dentist can be anyway. I have changed Dentists a few times since my childhood and I think I have a keeper. He even had me laughing, we even had a few comments on crown preps don't usually get that type of response. So, no more fear for me, at least until my next appointment.

The Ramsey Test

OK, We recently (this past payday) began the envelope system. We are trying the Dave Ramsey plan. While doing this you are suppose to use all of the paycheck (for that period) and end in a $0 balance. This scares me a little. But I am nothing if not adventurous, so we gave it a try. I managed to pay all of my bills, then put the appropriated money into the envelopes for things like groceries, restaurants, and a few other things. I designated $150 for 2 weeks worth of groceries, shopped the specials and only got the things on my list, and was very proud of the fact that I only went over $8. I mean we're talking about two teenagers here. So I did it, my only hope is that I have no unexpected expenses to pop up. I think I can make it for two weeks. Keep your fingers crossed.

*When I say I managed to pay all my bills, I only meant the ones that are due before my next payday.

T.G.I.F. !!!!!!!

It's Friday!!!!!!

You know, I think Friday is probably my favorite day of the week. I guess because I know I have Saturday to do whatever I want to do. But it's usually cleaning. I guess it's just the knowing I don't have to clean if I don't want to.
Anyway, today I am on my own. No one to Boss me around so to speak. It's kind of nice on occasion to be the "Office Manager". But I don't like it that much, so don't take this too literally. There are some down sides to being on your own. Who watches the front when you have to go to the restroom? Who answers the phone when your on the other line? Who makes the phone calls that you hate to make? That's whats nice about having someone to help you. Someone who doesn't mind doing those things that you really don't like doing. It's good to have someone around that you work well with and is fun to boot! OK, everyone have a great weekend!!

What's Your Purpose?

Every Wednesday night we have a Bible study at our church and the latest topic is Rick Warrens Purpose Driven Life. I read it years ago and really wanted our Pastor to do a Bible study on it then but he just never got around to it. So our Pastor now, let's call him, ummm, John, he decided to do a study on it as he has done it at other churches in the past. I have to say it has been thoroughly enjoyable. I really love it! Our Pastor really knows the Bible and I love how he gives us all the detail stuff that the average Joe, like myself, doesn't usually know. So anyway, last night we discussed Love and what an important role it plays. We should love each other as he has loved us. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your mind, and all your soul. Your strong love for each other will prove to the world that you are my disciples. What powerful words. Sometimes Gods love is so much more than we can even imagine. God loves us so freely and so easily, yet sometimes we forget. We forget how he loves everyone, mean people, and all, he loves them just as much as he loves us. Why is it so hard for us to spend a little time helping someone? They say one of the best ways to show someone that you love them is to spend time with them. Time is precious to us all, we usually think we don't have enough time to do everything we think we need to do. How much time have you spent with your family? Friends? Kids?
Just something to think about.

Be Kind, It's my first time.

OK, People, here we go, my first day at blogging. Please, be kind, I'm new at this. I'll start off with a little bit about myself. I really do have two kids and three goats actually. But that didn't sound as catchy. I have a good man who puts up with me and two teenagers so he must be good. My friend and co-worker talked me into this, so I decided to give it a whirl. I don't know what could possibly be interesting about little old me but you will have to be the judge of that now won't you. Well, I will think of something really exciting to talk about, or at the very least humorous.
