Down to the Final 2

Last night was the semi final for Master Chef, and we are down to 2.

They are

Christine, I told you before that she is my favorite.

And Josh.

I really like both of them.  But Christine is such an inspiration, I really want her to win.

Guess we find out tonight who the real Master chef is!!!

Spaghetti as an appetizer, really?

The other night as the Mr. and I were watching our favorite show, we came to the realization that we really no absolutely nothing about fine dining.

While the chefs were preparing appetizers, one of which was spaghetti, we couldn't quite get past the fact that we don't see spaghetti as an appetizer.

Mr. Wonderful said maybe we just aren't wealthy enough to appreciate spaghetti as an appetizer because our idea of an appetizer is jalapeno poppers and cheesy fries, not to mention the favorite at our house, chicken wings.

So then we started thinking maybe that is a west coast thing.

Or maybe it is a fine dining thing.

Either way, it seemed to be over our heads.  Because what we view as an appetizer (and a good one at that) didn't seem to be anywhere on their menu.

Hmmmmm, I guess we should stick with the southern cooks who know what a real appetizer is like Paula Deen.

Playing Catch Up

We were recently on vacation, and while we were there we realized we had been so relaxed from lying on the beach everyday that we missed two of our favorite shows.

Master Chef

and Hell's Kitchen!

We absolutely love us a good cooking show.  And while Master Chef is definitely my favorite of the two I can't help but watch Mr. Ramsey's personality change the way it does from Hell's Kitchen to Master Chef.

I have to say that I really want Christine to win Master Chef.

If you watch it then you know she is an amazing cook, and she does it all blind.

She is amazing!!!

As for Hell's Kitchen, I am thinking Barbie.  No one really likes her but I think it's because she can cook.  And I like Justin too.  He doesn't seem to have been in too much trouble yet this season.

So last night was catch up night for what we missed, and lucky for us, it comes on again tonight.

Learning from Andy

When we were growing up, this was the kind of show we watched everyday.

Unfortunately, there's not enough of these on now.

This is my absolute favorite episode, one of those that makes you laugh, and cry, and above all remember what is really important.

Ramblings

First, lets talk reality shows.

I have admitted my weakness for Jersey Shore, so that's old news.  But Baby Girl is into several reality shows.

One of which is Keeping up with the Kardashians.  You know Bruce Jenner's family, Khloe and Lamar, and now Kris and Kim, and lets not forget Scott and Kourtney.  There are others, that is only a few of the sisters.

Let me just say, when I think my life is dysfunctional, just cut on the Kardishians.  Really starts putting things in perspective.

She also really likes those teen mom shows.  There are days when I watch an episode with her, just to stress the importance of abstinence, and I can't believe how people act.  When I get like that I start telling her what I don't like about those people on the show and she gets mad and tells me to leave the room.  Which I don't by the way, so she will usually get mad and leave the room herself.

You know what that means, right.

I get the remote!   HA!

On another note, we had quite a bit of rain, so once again, the patio is stalled.

Really getting tired of waiting for the planets to align so we can finish it, but whatever.

After Mr. Wonderful got back from his fishing trip, he has not stopped talking about going back.  Yea, that means the patio again must wait.  I tried to throw some husband guilt his way, but he was way too focused to pay attention to it.

It is Friday, so that is really good news!!

It has been pretty busy around the house with everyone getting back to school and a normal schedule, so I am looking forward to resting.

OK, have a great weekend!

My FAVORITE show!

This is really, really, my favorite reality show!

I just love a reality cooking show!  Love, love, love it!

And believe it or not, Mr. Ramsey is actually a nice guy on this show.

Really!

Anyway, tonight is the finale, and we are down to three.

First up is Jennifer Behn.

My feelings would not be hurt in the least if she won.

Next is Christian Collins.

Now, Christian doesn't exactly ooze with personality, he's pretty sure of himself, and quite frankly he just KNOWS he's going to win.

Maybe, he can cook, but he needs to tone it down.

I don't want him to win.  Although I will say I hope something good comes out of it for him because I think he's just arrogant because life hasn't given him a lot of breaks.

So, last but certainly not least, my favorite to win.

Is Adrien Nieto.

I really would like to see Adrien win, of all the contestants, he seems so deserving.  He cooks great, but more than that, he has great character.

Tonight is the big night!

I can't wait to see who wins!

Who likes to cook?

I don't know about you but I love a cooking show.  Especially a cooking show where any Joe Blow off the street can come in and show just how talented he is.

Have you seen Master Chef?

It is awesome, people from all walks of life have put their lives on hold to fulfill a dream of becoming a Master chef.

It is now down to the final four.

They are all great, I do love Whitney because she is from the south, but they are all great!

Who else loves a good cooking show?

And the winner is. . . . .

I have to say that I have loved this year's Survivor with Heroes and VillainsI loved all the Heroes, especially Colby.  I really  wanted to see him go all the way to the end, but old Russell must have thought he had a better chance of winning if he was gone.
So here are the final three.

Parvati, Russell, and Sandra.  Now, Parvati has won before and so has Sandra, Russell has not.  Bless his heart he really thought that stabbing people in the back would pay off in the end, and guess what?  It didn't.

I have to say I was glad when Sandra won the first time, and I was just as happy for her this time.  I like Parvati too, she just seemed to play the game a little dirtier more aggressive than Sandra.

I'm glad Sandra won! She was as honest and up front as any player I've seen.  Other than CW, he should have gotten a little farther in the game, but he trusted Russell and it didn't pay off.

I know what I said, but. . .

OK, I know I said there was nothing on TV, but last night House was on.

Do you watch House?

I like this show because the medical stuff fascinates me, and I also like the good Dr., he has a lot of inner turmoil.  But last night was a really good one.  Last night his patient was a blogger.

How cool is that?

Anyway, I didn't really like the way it portrayed bloggers but it is TV, and he makes a lot more money than I do so he can do whatever he wants right?

But I am curious if anyone else may have seen it and what you thought about it.

There's nothing on TV

There use to be so many good shows on TV, like Andy Griffith, I love Lucy, (this was my all time favorite).  These were the more wholesome shows that use to come on when I was little and I loved them.

You don't really see any kinds of shows like that anymore, you use to have Seventh Heaven and the Angel show.  (Sorry, I can't think of the name of that one.)

Now everything is reality.  Don't get me wrong I love me some reality, Jersey Shore was a show I DID NOT miss.   I know it's trashy TV, but I was hooked.  I also love me some Survivor, this season is better than the last one I think.  Maybe that's because Colby's back.

Last night, there was a ball game on and unless one of my kids are playing, I don't really care about it so I went to the bedroom to see what I could find on TV.

I ended up watching Lost.  I think that must be one of those shows that you can jump in on any episode and it not matter.  You have a narrator, and stuff on the bottom of the screen explaining everything to you.  Don't get me wrong I like it, I do, I just don't really get it.

I was actually thinking of going back to the beginning of the show and trying to see if that may help.

Strictest Parents

CMT has a new show that has been coming on called "Strictest Parents". When I get home from work in the afternoons, this is usually what my kids are watching so I will sometimes sit down and watch it with them. If you haven't seen the show it's kind of like The Nanny, for teenagers. They take two kids, a boy and a girl, and send them to a house that has really strict parents.

After watching this show a few times, I realized the strict parents weren't really all that strict, they just expected to be treated with respect. Oooooohhhh, what a concept, treating adults with respect. Who thought of that one?

The amazing part is the way the teenagers react to someone else who isn't their parent. At first they usually try the same thing that they did at home, like back talking, or cursing at them, yelling, you know stuff like that. The difference comes when they realize the strict parents just don't put up with the crap. They usually conform to the rules and actually enjoy themselves. There are a few rebels who will refuse and they leave the "strict" house. They learned nothing. But the ones who stay have all gone away better for the experience.

You know they aren't that different, the strict parents all have kids, and the only difference in their family and the troubled teens family is usually just rules. The teens coming in have not been subject to consequences for their actions, so they continue with the bad behavior that the parents can no longer handle. One girl who kept cursing in the house had to clean the toilet with a toothbrush as one of the consequences. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't be cursing if I kept getting chores given to me for doing it.

I have to say the families that I have seen that take those kids in all love Jesus. They try to impress on the kids that they are worthy of love, because you can see that some of them just don't feel like it. That is part of the reason for their rebellion. But when they are shown a little attention, and respect themselves they are new people. Their whole appearance changes, they are happier kids.

My kids don't really like me to watch shows like that with them because I usually cry because I think it is so sweet, then when they start arguing, I try to be like the strict parents, telling them that we don't yell in our house, or talk disrespectful. They will get mad, then head off to their rooms. I go into the kitchen and have a nice relaxing glass of wine. TV is great!

All joking aside, it really is a good show. It's amazing to see how someones attitude will change, when you treat them like you would like to be treated.
