Painted and ready!

Finished my dresser that was a freebie from my friend.

Here's how she looks before the makeover.

It's super sturdy, but we just didn't want to leave it all boring and brown.  So, I tried to decide what color I wanted to paint it.

I really wanted to paint it red, but I couldn't find the shade that I wanted, so I decided to go
with a light grey.

I happened to have that already so I just went with that.

Here she is all painted up and finished.

Isn't she pretty?

I used the original hardware but just painted it with spray paint.

Hammered black, to be exact.

Sorry, I took these with my phone, they look a little blurry.

But all in all, I love how it looks, it actually looks white in the picture but in person you
can tell it's a light grey.

I'm pretty happy with it.

What a difference a little paint can make

Here are the before's of the kitchen and the living room that we painted at moms' house.

There was a border up that I took off a few days before we painted.

Uuuuuggghhh!!  That was NO fun at all, but I just put on my big girl panties and did it anyway.

I also used a formula that I found on pinterest to take off the border and I thought it worked pretty good.

Of course, my husband complained, he didn't like the smell. (Vinegar and water.)

These are the living room pictures.

I know, it's pretty dark isn't it.

So we decided to lighten it up per mom's request so she could see a little better.

This is the kitchen after we painted it.

The color is actually Swiss Mocha, but it pretty much looks white.

This is the living room after.

We were not going to repaint the ceiling so we went with a very soft yellow.

It looks a little green in this picture but it doesn't look like that in person.

This one is a little more true to color.

It's called barely blonde.  It's more of a butter color.

After painting both rooms it was so much lighter in there.  And believe it or not we got both rooms painted in 3 hours.

We had a lot of helpers.

Blues' new home

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend, ours was great.

We had a few mishaps, but all in all great.

I finished my $35 wardrobe and we got it moved to its new home.

I love how it turned out.

We kept two of the drawers up top out and we are going to put baskets in there.

I like it!

My Wagner spray painter!

This past year for Christmas I asked for a paint sprayer.

And I actually got it.

This is the kind I got.  It's a Wagner as you can see.  And it certainly isn't what you might consider top of the line, but I have never used anything like it before so I thought it best to start small.

This was a find off of Facebook that I got for $35.

I know, I couldn't believe it either!

Anyway, I decided the weather was finally nice enough for me to use my sprayer.  I took off all of my hardware and removed the drawers, and got ready for working.

My color of choice was Cosmopolitan.  It's in the blue family.

And here she is all prettied up.

I am loving the color.

So, how was the sprayer?

I thought it did well, I had to practice a few times but after I got the hang of it I thought it had a nice smooth flow.

As you can see there was quite a bit of over spray.  Seemed a little wasteful but I learned to live with it.

When the paint starts getting low, it will mess up the spray pattern and I had to reload my paint cup twice so that was a bummer.
But it does come with the hose so you can do continuous spray, which I may try next time.

All in all, I liked it.

I did two coats, and I have to say it was definitely a huge time saver, I would still be painting this thing if I had hand painted it.

So I will give it a Thumbs up!

Stripes!!

This past weekend I decided to paint the hallway bathroom, it was repainted last year but I wanted to spiff it up a little.

We taped it off, and I used my ASCP, hey, the can says you can use it on walls so why not.

Here it is finished but not put together.

And now it's all put back together.

I am loving it!

My Louis blue chalk board!!

I couldn't wait to get started painting something with my chalk paint.

I was so excited that I looked for the first thing I could find.

And I found this.

A goodwill frame I got sometime last summer.  I was planning on using it for a chalk board but I hadn't got around to painting it yet, so why not use this right?

So I did.

Don't you just love it?

I DO!!!

Love the detail!

What will I paint next?

It's amazing what paint can do!

Before we left for our vacation, I made a quick stop at the Goodwill store.

And I found this.

I have been looking for one of these for a while, and while they had 2 this time, I really liked this one a little bit better.

But it was filthy, and boring.

And with the magic of Krylon, it became. . . . .

It's already found itself a new home in my room.

Free Goodies!

These are a few mirrors I picked up at our Free Yard sale.

Just a cute little mirror, it's only about 5 X 7, it looks larger in this picture.

And then there was this one that I got for Baby Girls room.

I really like this one, just needs a little paint to brighten it up.

Makeovers coming soon!

Painting, again!

A few weeks ago, I took off to the Goodwill store looking for that special something.

A bench.

But instead I came home with one of those wooden bowls that you see everywhere and super smart bloggers everywhere paint them and make them look awesome.

Unfortunately, I didn't take a before picture because I really didn't think it would be anything special, and I wanted to try the layering of the paint and if it didn't turn out right then it wouldn't matter anyway, right.

But I absolutely love how it turned out!!

Don't you just love her?

She looks dreamy, and now she sits by the door holding our keys.

I moved her so she could be seen in the light, in all her glory.

Re-purposing!

I finally finished another one of my goodwill finds.

It started out like this.

Then it got a makeover.

Now it has a new purpose!

Cute elephant, huh?

What a difference a little paint can make

Remember my good will find?

I just had to spiff it up a little and get her all ready for spring.

What do you think?  I love the color.  I am going to see what else I can find to paint.

I think I will throw some Easter eggs and grass in there to really set the spring scene!
