Reorganizing my pantry

It has actually been a few weeks since I did this but I am just now getting around to
showing it to you.

I didn't take a before picture, but trust me it wasn't pretty.

All the shelves were lined on the back wall.  There were 4 big shelves and
1 skinny shelf on the bottom where I put some extra Pyrex dishes.

I pitched the idea to my husband that I wanted to take those out and make them
skinnier and L shaped, so that I had shelves on 2 walls instead on one.

Let's just say he didn't take to the idea.

If I heard it once, I heard it a hundred times, you won't like it.

You are going to lose space.

Blah, blah, blah.

So, I said just do it, I will take full responsibility if I don't like it.

All the while knowing I was gonna like it.  It was him that needed the convincing.

So, I got up on Saturday morning and emptied EVERYTHING out of the cabinet.

See.

I use to keep kids so, I still had my first aid posters on the door, just in case someone got choked or something.

Mr. Wonderful came up with a way to use the braces that were in there already for the back shelves and we headed to Lowe's to get some brackets for the side shelves.

I painted it so it would look all clean and new.

And Voila!!!

A pantry reorganized!!!  Mr. Wonderful was excited to see that we had enough room to move the spices from another cabinet into this one.

I know I need some baskets for the rice and beans, but trust me, it is an amazing improvement.

Also the 2 white trash cans are for our recyclables.

PS.  I took the CPR poster's down after I took the picture.  I just hope nobody gets choked.

Week 2

OK, so we are in the 2nd week of the marriage challenge.

And I can see why it's called a challenge.

Not that my man isn't praise worthy because he is, it's just that in the middle of a busy,
crazy week it's hard to remember to stop and praise him.

And this week, we are suppose to come up with creative ways to say we love him.

So, I  might have to put my creative thinking cap on for this one.  Some suggestions were love notes, or texting sweet notes to him.  Now I would like to say that we tell each other
every day that we love each other.  Every day!  We don't miss one, so it's not that we don't tell each other because we do.

We've just done it so much, now it's more of a habit than a feeling.

Like so many other things in life we do it so much we lose the reason we do it in the first place.

So this week, I am going to make a conscience effort to make sure when I tell him I love
him, he can tell it's coming from my heart and not just my mouth.

Are you up for a challenge?

I have decided to take part in THIS challenge.

I have done something like this before, but I wanted to try again and see if this time, my husband notices.

I did the Love Dare before and I honestly had to tell him about it when it was over because he didn't seem to notice all the nice things I was saying and doing.

I know, right?

But lately I have become so taken with this blog that I really feel convicted to take on
this challenge.

I want to be a better wife to my husband, and a better mother to my kids.  Even though they are almost grown, I know that everything we do is an example to them.  I just want it to be a good example.

Lately I have been praying specific prayers for my husband, prayers that will enrich his
relationship with God.

I am trying to make myself be more submissive to my husbands needs.  I am not specifically talking about affection here either, we all have more needs than just physical ones, and the emotional ones are what seem to make or break relationships.

I want to be more than just his wife, I want to be his friend.

Now don't get me wrong, we have what I think is a good relationship, but there is always room for improvement.

So, is anyone else up for a challenge?

Good Reads!

I have been reading a lot of books lately.

Finished a few, some I am still working on.

I recently finished the book we are doing our Bible study on.

Awesome, awesome, book.  Really asks some tough questions but definitely a book that will make you grow.

Currently I am reading this.

This is a really good read also.  It deals with breaking strongholds through the power of prayer.

I've already said how I really believe prayer can be so powerful, so I won't go into that tangent again.

But it's true.

Along that line I also have this book.

I personally am not real comfortable if someone asks me to say the prayer, and this book has some great prayers for just about any kind of situation.

Happy 18th Birthday BG!!!!

I can't believe it's been 18 years!!

Time really does fly.

It seems like just yesterday you were a baby.

And then you start growing and changing.

Sometimes I think you changed overnight.

You can be a handful at times, but you are always a joy!!

Happy 18th Birthday my sweet Baby Girl!

We love you and are so proud of you!!!

PS  She does own nice clothes, but she won't smile when she wears them.
