Being healed

Last night was Bible study.  We are still in Luke, and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Last night we were reading Chapter 8, where Jesus gives life to the little girl and heals the woman in the crowd.

Now I have read these stories and heard about them many times but you know how sometimes something just clicks.  Something I didn't really pay attention to before was the parallels between the two stories.

The young girl who was brought back to life was 12.  The woman in the crowd who was healed was sick for 12 years.

Coincidence?  I don't think so.

One goes boldly into the crowd and asks, no begs, Jesus to come and heal his daughter.  The other tries to hide within the crowd, but knows, that if she only touches Jesus, she will be healed.

They both have so much faith.  They both know that Jesus can healAnd they both fall at his feet.

Do you wonder why Jesus called the woman out?  I mean, surely he knew she was the one who touched his robe, but he wanted her to say it was her.

Why?  She was healed the minute she touched his garment.  Maybe it was to tell her that not only was she healed physically but also emotionally.  Let's face it after 12 years with an illness that no one else seems to be able to  fix, she was desperate, and financially and emotionally spent.  In that day, Jewish women were considered unclean if they had bleeding issues, so technically she wasn't even suppose to be there.  Perhaps he wanted to send out the message that all are welcome.

" Come to me, all of you who are tired and have heavy loads, and I will give you rest."
Matthew 11:28

Both who came to him were healed.

Now that's a good story!
