One in Four

This morning started out just like every other morning, in that after I pour my coffee, I sit down to watch the weather on the local station.

This morning they were doing a story about The Second Harvest Food Bank.  They do a yearly event where you buy a ticket, get a hand crafted bowl, and a bowl of soup.  It's to raise awareness that 1 in 4 children in NC go to bed hungry.

To think that my kids complain when there are no chips in the cupboard is a little embarrassing.  My kids have never had to go to bed hungry.  The thought of any child being hungry is so sad to me.

What are we gonna do about it?

Our church gives regularly to Loaves and Fishes, which is a local food bank.  But with so many people out of work, I can't help but feel like we should be doing more.  And by we I mean me.   I am  sure there are people in my community that may need help, but probably would not ask.  And frankly they shouldn't have to,   Should they?  I mean as Christians, and just as human beings we should be helping our neighbors?

So, I will do something, not sure what it will be right now, maybe just a donation, or maybe something else.

What will you do?

"And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward."Matthew 10:42

  1. I will donate canned food. I love The Second Harvest Food Bank. I have always wanted to go be a part of that but have never been able to.

So sad to think that many people go to bed hungry. Awareness is the first step...now we are aware. Thanks.
