The Truth shall set You Free!!!

"Through the Word, we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us."
2nd Timothy 3: 16,17

Wow! It is so easy for us to make excuses for why we don't make time to read our bibles. I am just as guilty as anyone else. I once decided that I was going to get on one of those plans, where you read through the bible in a year. I started it, but I found myself, reading just to be getting it done and not really reading it. I think, and this is only my opinion so take it for what it's worth. I think if you are going to take the time to read the bible, then you must want to learn from it.

So you need to take your time and read at your own pace, whether it's a chapter or two or more a day, or 2 or 3 verses, you need to do it at your own pace. I have a wonderful teacher who can tell me all about the history of a time in the bible and that really makes me want to learn more and more about it. A good teacher can make all the difference. I think his point in telling us the history was to get us interested and inspire us to learn more. He did a good job of that.

So now when I read the bible, it is more for me, there could be something going on that I really feel like I need some encouragement or guidance. I need a lot of guidance sometimes. I know that's hard to believe, but it's true. You know how sometimes, you open up a bible or even a devotional and you feel like it is exactly what you need to hear. That is a wonderful feeling, for me anyway. Because it makes me feel like someone up there is listening and really does care about all the stuff that goes on in my "ordinary" life. So I'll leave you with some questions.

How often do you read your bible?

Have you ever read the "whole" bible?

Do you use a time table kind of plan to read it or just do it on your own?

What's your favorite bible verse?

  1. My favorite verse is from Psalms. *Be still, and know that I am God*. I have never read the whole Bible. I like to read *My Utmost For His Highest* and then read the corresponding verses in the Bible. I'd like to say I do it every day but I do miss some....and I know His grace covers me. Isn't that a good thing to know? I love it that you have a thirst for His word!!!!
